PBS Guam documentary to compete at New York film festival
The Public Broadcasting Service of Guam’s original documentary, “Something to Call Our Own: A CHamoru Dance Story” has been selected to compete at the Pacific Island Film Festival New York City 2025.
The film chronicles the journey of the Guam dance delegation’s journey at the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture.
Guam, NMI, American Samoa, and U.S. Virgin Islands recognized as states in ABA resolution
The American Bar Association House of Delegates has adopted Resolution 11-2 which amends the ABA Constitution to recognize the U.S Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa as states for the purposes of ABA governance.
Pakingan awarded $15,000 accounting scholarship
Frances Pakingan, a senior accounting major at the University of Guam, was named the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Scholar and was awarded a $15,000 scholarship which she plans on using to pursue a masters in accountancy at the university.
Tabilas: first woman and youngest to earn Certified Private Wealth Advisor designation
Brianna T. Tabilas, an investment portfolio associate with David Beaver & Associates of Raymond James; has earned the Certified Private Wealth Advisor designation. She is the first woman and youngest professional on Guam to receive the designation and is one of three individuals on island to hold the credential.
GRMC earns national stroke care recognition
The Guam Regional Medical City was recognized by the American Heart Association for its performance in stroke care in 2024. GRMC earned the Get With the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Award along with the Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Stroke Honor Roll Advanced Therapy.
