CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF HARVEST MINISTRIES
A Legacy of Faith, Education, and Community Impact on Guam

When a small group of believers gathered on a front porch in Mangilao in 1975, they could not have imagined the scope of what was beginning. Fifty years later, Harvest Ministries—anchored by Harvest Baptist Church and Harvest Christian Academy (HCA)—stands as one of Guam’s most enduring faith-based institutions, guided by its mission of Helping People Develop a Heart for God. Over five decades, Harvest has shaped generations of students, strengthened families, and made meaningful contributions to the island’s social, educational, and spiritual landscape.
From its earliest days under Missionary Pastor Bruce Wring, Harvest’s growth mirrored the development of Guam itself: diverse, resilient, and deeply community-oriented. Today, Harvest includes a vibrant church with about 800 weekly worshipers, a fully accredited K3–12 Christian academy serving nearly 950 students, a Bible college, a radio station, a foster-care ministry, and outreach initiatives throughout Micronesia and the Pacific. What started on a porch has grown into a multisite, multigenerational ministry impacting thousands each year.
At the core of Harvest’s lasting influence is Harvest Christian Academy, now in its fifth decade of equipping students with a college-preparatory education rooted in a biblical worldview, leadership development, and character building. HCA alumni have become entrepreneurs, educators, nonprofit leaders, public officials, and ministry workers—many choosing to return home to invest in Guam’s future.
The academy’s alumni network is global, yet its roots remain strongly local. Generations of Guam families have partnered with HCA for their children’s education, creating bonds that go beyond the classroom and nurturing leaders who understand service, responsibility, and community impact.
In a time when workforce development is a statewide priority, HCA’s record stands out: stewardship, communication, problem-solving, and faith-informed decision-making align closely with the skills employers seek in future professionals.
Over five decades, Harvest has expanded its outreach through ministries that meet real needs across Guam and Micronesia:
- KHMG 88.1 FM / Harvest Family Radio – 30 years of family-friendly programming and 24/7 Christian broadcasting.
- Harvest Baptist Bible College – Over 40 years of training workers who serve churches, camps, and communities across the Pacific.
- Harvest House – Founded in 2009, now one of Guam’s most impactful foster-care ministries, supporting foster families and advocating for vulnerable children.
- Pacific Rim Christian Camp and The HUB Coffee Shop – Community spaces that foster connection, mentorship, and relationships. Together, these ministries embody Harvest’s commitment to meeting both spiritual and practical needs.
The 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend — featuring an HCA Alumni Gathering on Oct. 25 and a special worship service on Oct. 26, 2025 — brings together church members, alumni, and island partners to reflect on God’s faithfulness and celebrate Harvest’s enduring role on Guam.
Senior Pastor Gary Walton emphasizes the significance of this moment: “For fifty years, Harvest has been committed to helping people develop a heart for God… As we celebrate this milestone, we honor the past with gratitude and move forward with renewed dedication to love God, serve others, and share the hope of Jesus Christ—on Guam, across the Pacific, and around the world.”
As Harvest enters its next fifty years, its leaders remain dedicated to strengthening families, cultivating future leaders, expanding educational excellence, and continuing the impactful work of ministries like Harvest House — areas that resonate deeply with Guam’s business, civic, and nonprofit sectors.
For five decades, Harvest Ministries has been more than a church or a school; it has been a steady presence, a training ground, a place of hope, and a valued partner in Guam’s growth. Its golden anniversary signifies not just longevity but a lasting legacy.
