Pacific Pest Control, a prominent provider of pest control services in Guam, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Founded as Hagens Inc. and officially incorporated on April 17, 1995, the company has grown significantly over the past three decades, serving a wide array of clients from homes and offices to military bases.

Phil Hagen, operations manager reflected on the milestone, noting the variety of services that have been central to the company’s success. “We provide pest control treatments to various types of customers to include homes, offices, hotels, restaurants, military bases, and just about any place that have pests that need to be controlled,” Hagen says. “Most of the time we are called in to control ants, roaches, rodents, and termites, but we can provide service for other pests.”
The company's leadership has seen a generational transition, with Hagen and his brother Scott of Pacific Solar & Photovoltaics taking the reins as the second generation. They are now preparing for the next generation to step in. “For me, growing up around a family business, I unknowingly absorbed a lot from my parent’s conversations at home to just waiting in their office to go home after school,” Hagen says. “My brother and my kids are slowly getting involved by learning parts of the business. It is our hope that one or more of them can take over after us but ultimately it will be their decision.”
Adapting to new ideas and maintaining a fresh perspective have been vital for Pacific Pest Control’s sustained success. “Proper training and communication with new technicians are key,” Hagen says. “We have weekly meetings where everyone has a chance to speak up if they have found a better way to do treatments, interact with customers, or if they are having difficulty with an account.”
The company has navigated significant challenges over the past few years, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic and Typhoon Mawar. “Keeping our employees safe and comfortable enough to return to work during COVID was one hurdle,” Hagen says. “We supplied our staff with proper PPEs and gave them the option to hold off servicing an account if they did not feel comfortable doing it.” After the typhoon, the company focused on community support, helping clear debris and providing essential resources. “Many had no power or water, so our office was a place to fill up or charge whatever they needed.”
Reflecting on the company's achievements, Hagen credited the dedicated team of pest control technicians. “All of our success can be attributed to those pest control technicians from the past to the present. Without their quality service and meeting our customer’s needs, we would not be where we are today.” Hagen says the company’s technicians are the reason it was able to grow and build a positive reputation in Guam. He says, “All those that work at Pacific Pest Control have helped to keep us going strong after 30 years.”
