Chinese media visit the NMI

MVA Travel with meSeveral Asian media outlets visited the Northern Mariana Islands over the past couple months.

  • China’s “Travel with Me” television program promoted the Saipan Marathon in its Feb. 15 edition. The program aired to an estimated 180 million viewers in the Guangdong region. The show featured popular sportscaster Gang Cheng promoting the marathon and interviewing Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Perry John P. Tenorio about the race. The show also follows a 9-year-old girl from China and her mother as they learn about NMI traditions and culture from a local family and other children.
  • Four Chinese media outlets spent Christmas in the Northern Mariana Islands on a familiarization tour. The group included representatives of Guangdong Radio and TV station, FM 99.3 radio, the “Yangcheng Evening News” and Modern weekly magazine.
